Public safety is more than just law enforcement—it’s about addressing the root causes of crime, building trust between the community and police, and investing in programs that prevent violence before it starts. LaWanda supports a comprehensive approach to safety, including community policing, increased funding for violence intervention programs, and ensuring first responders have the resources they need. She will work to create stronger partnerships between law enforcement and residents while advocating for initiatives that focus on youth engagement, mental health crisis response, and neighborhood-led safety strategies.
